Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures specific to the cleaning industry.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and develop control measures to mitigate hazards associated with cleaning chemicals, equipment, and environments.
• Ensure compliance with all national and local health and safety legislation and regulations.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver health and safety training programs for cleaning staff and management, both online and potentially in-person where required.
• Maintain comprehensive health and safety records, including training logs, incident reports, and audit findings.
• Conduct internal audits and inspections to monitor compliance and identify areas for improvement.
• Stay updated on the latest developments in occupational health and safety and industry best practices.
• Advise management on all health and safety matters, providing clear and actionable recommendations.
• Promote a positive and proactive safety culture throughout the organization, working remotely with dispersed teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
• Professional certification (e.g., SAMTRAC, NEBOSH) is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a health and safety role, with specific experience or strong knowledge of the cleaning services industry.
• In-depth understanding of South African health and safety legislation (e.g., OHS Act, COSHH regulations).
• Proven ability to develop and implement effective health and safety management systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and investigative skills.
• Strong communication, presentation, and training skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
• Proficiency in using relevant software for reporting and data management.
• Must be highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Must have a reliable internet connection and a dedicated workspace suitable for remote work.
• Previous experience working remotely is a plus.
