About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and proactive Remote Health and Safety Manager to champion workplace safety across their diverse mining operations. This is a fully remote position, requiring exceptional communication and leadership skills to oversee and enhance safety protocols without being physically present on-site. You will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive health and safety management systems, ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, and fostering a strong safety culture. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in occupational health and safety within the mining sector, with a proven ability to drive positive change through remote engagement and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust Health and Safety Management Systems (HSMS) across all operational sites.
- Conduct remote risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety audits.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international health, safety, and environmental legislation and standards.
- Develop and deliver remote safety training programs and awareness campaigns.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, site safety personnel, and senior management on all H&S matters.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in health and safety management, with at least 5 years in the mining industry .
- Professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH, NOSA) is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing effective safety management systems .
- Strong understanding of mining hazards, risk management principles, and relevant legislation.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and remote collaboration skills.
