About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Remote Health and Safety Officer to ensure compliance with safety regulations across all its construction sites. In this fully remote position, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety programs, policies, and procedures. Your role will involve conducting risk assessments, investigating incidents, and providing guidance and training to site teams to foster a robust safety culture. This is a critical role for maintaining a safe working environment for all personnel, contributing to the company's commitment to zero harm, and driving best practices in occupational health and safety across its operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive health and safety programs aligned with relevant legislation and company policies.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and site safety inspections, identifying potential hazards and recommending control measures.
- Investigate all workplace accidents and incidents, preparing detailed reports and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Deliver safety training and awareness programs to employees and contractors.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Occupational Health and Safety Acts and regulations.
- Maintain safety documentation, records, and certificates, and prepare regular safety performance reports.
Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NOSA, NEBOSH).
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a Health and Safety Officer role, preferably within the construction industry.
- In-depth knowledge of South African health and safety legislation and standards.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a remote workload effectively.
- Strong understanding of risk management principles and incident investigation techniques.
