Remote Health and Safety Officer (Sanitation Focus)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive Remote Health and Safety Officer with a specialization in sanitation to support their operations, including those in Mossel Bay . This critical role focuses on developing, implementing, and monitoring health, safety, and sanitation policies and procedures remotely. You will be instrumental in ensuring a safe working environment by providing guidance, training, and oversight on best practices for cleanliness and hygiene across all company sites. The successful candidate is knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and capable of driving compliance through remote engagement and effective communication strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive sanitation policies and procedures aligned with health and safety regulations.
• Conduct remote risk assessments and identify potential hazards related to hygiene and sanitation practices.
• Provide guidance and support to site managers and staff on implementing effective cleaning protocols and safety measures.
• Monitor compliance through virtual means, including reviewing reports, data, and conducting virtual walkthroughs.
• Develop and deliver remote training programs on health, safety, and sanitation best practices.
• Investigate and report on incidents related to health, safety, or sanitation, recommending corrective actions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in health, safety, and sanitation management, preferably with a focus on compliance.
• Strong understanding of relevant legislation and industry standards for workplace safety and hygiene.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills for remote engagement.
• Proficiency in using digital collaboration tools and safety management software.
• Ability to analyze data, develop reports, and implement effective safety strategies remotely.
