Remote Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager

About the Role

Our client is looking for a seasoned Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager to join their team in a fully remote capacity, overseeing operations across various locations including Centurion, Gauteng. This role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive HSE policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and industry best practices. You will play a critical role in fostering a strong safety culture, mitigating risks, and promoting environmental stewardship across the organization, despite the geographically dispersed nature of the workforce. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HSE professional to leverage their expertise in a flexible, remote-first work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain robust HSE management systems aligned with international standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
• Conduct risk assessments, hazard identification, and develop mitigation strategies for all operational areas.
• Oversee incident investigation, root cause analysis, and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental legislation and permit requirements.
• Develop and deliver HSE training programs to employees and contractors across different sites.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in HSE management, preferably within the mining or industrial sector.
• Professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH, NEBOSH) is highly desirable.
• Proven ability to manage HSE programs remotely and effectively communicate across dispersed teams.
• Strong knowledge of South African HSE legislation and best practices.
