Remote Health & Safety Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and proactive Remote Health & Safety Officer to join their operations supporting projects across Gauteng and beyond. In this fully remote role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive health and safety programs to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and industry best practices. You will play a crucial role in fostering a strong safety culture, conducting risk assessments, and providing expert guidance to site teams, all from a remote location. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain robust health and safety policies and procedures across all project sites.
• Conduct remote risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety audits to identify and mitigate potential workplace dangers.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, determining root causes and implementing corrective and preventative actions.
• Provide comprehensive safety training and guidance to site personnel, supervisors, and management teams virtually.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety legislation, regulations, and client requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training, incidents, and compliance documentation.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Health & Safety role, preferably within the construction industry.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing successful H&S management systems.
• In-depth knowledge of South African occupational health and safety legislation.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and virtual training skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain strong stakeholder relationships remotely.
• Relevant safety qualification (e.g., NOSA, NEBOSH) is essential.
