Remote HR Generalist - Tech Startup

About the Role

Our client, an innovative and rapidly scaling tech startup, is looking for a proactive and versatile Remote HR Generalist to build and manage its people operations. This is a critical, hands-on role where you will be instrumental in shaping the company culture, developing foundational HR processes, and supporting employees across various functions. You will manage the full spectrum of HR activities, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance management, and ensuring compliance in a fully remote setting. Key Responsibilities

Oversee end-to-end recruitment processes for various roles, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding new hires. Develop and implement robust HR policies and procedures tailored for a remote-first environment. Manage employee relations issues, providing guidance and support to employees and leadership. Administer compensation and benefits programs, ensuring competitiveness and compliance. Support performance management processes, including goal setting and performance reviews. Ensure compliance with all relevant labor laws and regulations. Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives to foster a strong remote culture. Manage HRIS systems and ensure data accuracy and integrity. Act as a trusted advisor to employees and management on HR-related matters. Contribute to strategic HR planning and initiatives for organizational growth.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field. 3-5 years of progressive HR experience, with a significant focus on generalist responsibilities in a startup or tech environment. Proven experience in managing HR in a fully remote setting. Strong understanding of South African labor laws and compliance. Experience with HRIS, ATS, and other HR technology platforms. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to change in a dynamic environment. Strategic mindset with a hands-on approach. Experience in building HR functions from the ground up is highly desirable.
