Remote Information Security Manager

About the Role

Our client, a fast-growing technology firm, is looking for a strategic and results-oriented Information Security Manager to lead their security initiatives. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to shape and direct cybersecurity efforts from anywhere in South Africa. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the overall information security program, ensuring the protection of company data, systems, and intellectual property. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in security strategy, risk management, incident response, and compliance, coupled with strong leadership and team management skills. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive information security strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Oversee the implementation and management of security controls, policies, and procedures.
• Lead and manage the information security team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance.
• Conduct regular risk assessments, vulnerability management, and penetration testing oversight.
• Develop and manage the incident response plan, leading the team during security breaches.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., POPIA, GDPR, ISO 27001).
• Manage security awareness training programs for all employees.
• Evaluate, select, and implement security technologies and solutions.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including executives, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
• Stay abreast of emerging threats, technologies, and best practices in information security.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field; relevant advanced certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA) are mandatory.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in information security, with at least 5 years in a management or leadership role.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing enterprise-wide security programs.
• Deep understanding of risk management, threat intelligence, incident response, and data privacy.
• Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, compliance requirements, and best practices.
• Experience managing security teams and fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Excellent leadership, communication, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and vendor relationships.
• Proven ability to work effectively and lead a team in a fully remote capacity.
• Experience relevant to the general South African business environment, with capabilities expected for roles based in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, ZA, although fully remote.
