Our client is seeking a highly skilled Remote Instrumentation and Control Technician to join their innovative team, supporting operations from a remote capacity based out of Upington . This role is crucial for the monitoring, calibration, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems that are vital for industrial processes. You will leverage your technical expertise to provide remote support, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of data and automated systems, contributing significantly to operational efficiency and safety without the need for on-site presence for many tasks. This position offers the flexibility of remote work while playing a key role in maintaining sophisticated industrial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide remote technical support for the calibration, configuration, and troubleshooting of industrial instrumentation and control systems (e.g., PLCs, DCS, sensors).
  • Assist field technicians and clients through remote access tools and clear communication protocols to resolve issues.
  • Monitor system performance data and alarms remotely, identifying potential problems and recommending proactive solutions.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for instrumentation and control systems, including P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and operating manuals.
  • Create and update remote troubleshooting guides and knowledge base articles for common issues.
  • Advise on best practices for instrumentation maintenance and system upgrades from a remote perspective.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent certification in Instrumentation Technology, Electronics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience working with industrial instrumentation, control systems, and automation technologies.
  • Proficiency in using remote access software and diagnostic tools.
  • Strong understanding of calibration procedures and principles for various sensors (temperature, pressure, flow, level).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical data.
  • Effective communication skills for remote collaboration and providing clear instructions to field personnel based near Upington.
