Remote Lead Process Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Remote Lead Process Design Engineer to guide the conceptualization and detailed design of chemical processes for projects worldwide. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from your preferred location while leading critical design phases. You will be responsible for setting design standards, overseeing the work of design engineers, and ensuring that all designs meet the highest technical, safety, and economic requirements. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership capabilities and a deep understanding of chemical process design principles.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of process designs from conceptual studies through to detailed engineering packages.
• Set and enforce design standards, philosophies, and best practices across design teams.
• Oversee the work of other process engineers, providing technical direction and mentorship.
• Perform complex process calculations, simulations, and equipment sizing.
• Review and approve process deliverables, including PFDs, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and control strategies.
• Collaborate effectively with clients, project managers, and other engineering disciplines in a remote setting.

Requirements

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in chemical process design, with a significant portion in a lead or senior role.
• Expertise in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and P&ID development tools.
• Demonstrated experience in managing design projects and leading engineering teams remotely.
• Excellent understanding of safety regulations, environmental compliance, and economic considerations in design.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills for a virtual environment.
