About the Role
Our client is seeking a seasoned and strategic Lead Quantity Surveyor to join their fully remote team, driving cost management excellence across diverse construction projects. You will be responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of projects, from initial budgeting and cost estimation through to final account settlement. This leadership role requires a deep understanding of construction economics, contract administration, and risk management, coupled with strong analytical and negotiation skills. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who can effectively manage cost control strategies and mentor other quantity surveyors, contributing to project profitability and success from anywhere in South Africa
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the quantity surveying function for multiple construction projects, ensuring accurate cost control and financial reporting.
- Develop detailed cost plans, feasibility studies, and bills of quantities for complex projects.
- Manage contract administration, including tender evaluation, negotiation, and dispute resolution.
- Oversee the valuation of work in progress and manage payment applications and final accounts.
- Provide expert advice on cost-saving measures, procurement strategies, and risk mitigation.
- Mentor and manage a team of quantity surveyors, fostering their professional development.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
- Professional registration (e.g., MRICS, PrQS) is essential.
- Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in quantity surveying, with significant leadership responsibilities.
- Extensive experience in managing budgets for large-scale commercial and industrial construction projects.
- Expert knowledge of contract forms (e.g., JBCC, NEC) and construction law.
- Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and leadership skills, suited for a remote working environment.
