Remote Lead UX/UI Designer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative and experienced Lead UX/UI Designer to join their fully remote product development team, serving their user base in the Paarl region. This senior role will lead the design strategy for their digital products, focusing on creating exceptional, user-centered experiences that are both intuitive and engaging. You will be responsible for guiding the design process from concept to implementation, mentoring junior designers, and collaborating closely with product managers and engineers to ensure a cohesive and high-quality user interface. The ideal candidate is a creative visionary with a strong portfolio showcasing expertise in user research, interaction design, and visual design, driving the evolution of their digital offerings.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end design process for digital products, including user research, wireframing, prototyping, and high-fidelity visual design.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive design systems and style guides to ensure consistency across all platforms.
• Mentor and guide a team of UX/UI designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative design culture.
• Collaborate effectively with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to translate user needs and business requirements into compelling designs.
• Conduct user testing and usability studies to gather feedback and iterate on designs.
• Stay abreast of the latest UX/UI trends, best practices, and technologies to champion innovation within the design team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 7+ years of experience in UX/UI design, with a significant portion in a lead or senior role.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in user research, interaction design, visual design, and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD).
• Proven experience leading design projects and mentoring design teams.
• Excellent understanding of user-centered design principles, accessibility standards, and responsive design.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, crucial for remote collaboration supporting stakeholders in Paarl.
