About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Remote Legal Counsel with a strong focus on compliance to join their globally distributed legal team. This fully remote position will require you to provide expert legal advice on regulatory matters, ethical standards, and corporate compliance across various jurisdictions. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing compliance programs, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring adherence to all relevant laws and company policies. The ideal candidate thrives in a remote work environment, demonstrates exceptional analytical skills, and possesses a deep understanding of compliance frameworks, playing a critical role in upholding the company's integrity and regulatory standing from anywhere.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage the company's compliance program and policies.
- Conduct regular compliance training sessions for employees across different departments and locations.
- Investigate potential compliance violations and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Stay updated on evolving regulatory landscapes and advise on necessary changes to policies and procedures.
- Advise on data privacy regulations (e.g., POPIA, GDPR) and ensure adherence.
Requirements
- Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in legal practice, with a significant focus on compliance and regulatory matters.
- In-depth knowledge of South African and international compliance laws and best practices.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing compliance programs.
- Excellent remote collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously.
