About the Role Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Remote Legal Officer with a specialization in Compliance to join their fully remote legal team.

You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing compliance policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, and providing expert guidance to internal departments, all from the comfort of your home office.

Key Responsibilities • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance programs and policies, ensuring alignment with current legislation. • Conduct regular compliance risk assessments and audits to identify potential vulnerabilities and areas for improvement. • Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations, providing timely updates and recommendations to management. • Investigate and manage any reported compliance concerns or breaches, recommending and implementing corrective actions. • Develop and deliver training materials to educate employees on compliance best practices and ethical conduct. • Liaise with external regulators and auditors as required, representing the company in a professional and informed manner.

Requirements • A relevant degree in Law, Commerce, or a related discipline. • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a compliance or legal officer role, with a strong focus on regulatory adherence. • Proven understanding of South African compliance laws, including POPIA, FICA, and other relevant industry-specific regulations. • Demonstrated experience in developing and rolling out compliance frameworks and training programs. • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, crucial for remote collaboration.
