Remote Litigation Attorney

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Remote Litigation Attorney to join their fully remote legal team, serving clients across South Africa from their base near Richards Bay . This role involves managing a caseload of complex litigation matters, from initial case assessment through to resolution, including court appearances and settlements. You will work autonomously, leveraging technology to collaborate with colleagues and manage client expectations effectively. This position is perfect for a seasoned litigator who thrives in a remote setting and is passionate about delivering exceptional legal representation.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of civil litigation cases, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
• Conduct thorough legal research and draft persuasive legal arguments and documents.
• Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and other dispute resolution forums.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel, providing regular case updates.
• Develop and execute litigation strategies tailored to individual client needs and case objectives.
• Supervise junior legal staff and paralegals remotely as needed.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with a minimum of 10 years of litigation experience.
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex litigation matters from inception to conclusion.
• Extensive knowledge of civil procedure, rules of evidence, and courtroom advocacy.
• Exceptional legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Proficiency with legal research databases and case management software.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a substantial caseload effectively in a remote environment.
