Preferably a Lodge Manager/Trails Guide duo, the couple will jointly oversee daily operations across the expedition camp, an adjoining research camp, and a student accommodation house, working closely with the reserve's wider team.

Shared Responsibilities • Oversee daily operations across the expedition camp, research camp, and student house • Maintain all properties to a high standard of cleanliness, presentation, and functionality • Deliver personalised, exceptional guest experiences • Coordinate guest arrivals, departures, activities, and special requests • Manage staff schedules, performance, training, and development • Coordinate housekeeping and maintenance requirements, with regular property inspections • Foster a positive team culture aligned with the reserve's values • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards • Assist with reserve‑wide events and special projects as needed Role 1 – Trails Guide / Lodge Manager Core Criteria • Fully qualified FGASA Trails Guide • Valid DEFF registration and all permits required to conduct guided walking safaris • Valid firearm competency certificate, with legal authorisation to carry a company‑issued rifle • Valid First Aid certification • Valid South African driver's licence with Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) • Previous experience in luxury lodge guiding and hospitality operations • Sound knowledge of local flora, fauna, ecology, and conservation principles • Physically fit and capable of working in a remote environment Candidate Responsibilities • Conduct guided game drives, walking safaris, and interpretive experiences • Ensure guest safety and satisfaction throughout all activities • Maintain guiding vehicles, equipment, and firearms to company standards • Assist with wildlife monitoring, conservation initiatives, and data collection • Work closely with the Head Guide to maintain consistent guiding standards • Assist with daily management and administration across all properties • Support guest arrivals, departures, and activity coordination • Assist with stock control and general operational administration • During quiet periods, support broader reserve operations: fence and road maintenance, vegetation management, game capture and veterinary support, vehicle and equipment upkeep, and reserve security as required Role 2 – Lodge Manager / Guest Experience Manager Core Criteria • Previous experience in lodge management, guest relations, or hospitality operations • Strong administrative and organisational skills • Experience with reservations systems, Microsoft Office, and guest account management • Strong leadership and team management ability • Experience with stock control and financial administration • Comfortable working independently in a remote setting Candidate Responsibilities • Manage guest communication from reservation through to departure • Coordinate guest activities, special requests, and celebrations • Conduct room and property inspections to maintain service standards • Manage reservations, guest communication, and room allocations • Oversee stock control and monthly stock takes across amenities, beverages, and housekeeping supplies • Ensure accurate guest billing and account reconciliation • Monitor operational expenses and implement cost control measures • Maintain accurate records on occupancy, maintenance and staff matters, and prepare reports for management • Coordinate accommodation logistics and orientation for researchers, students, and visiting groups at the research camp and student house Package Offer • Accommodation provided • Meals provided when guests are in camp • Lodge Manager salary: R25,000 per month (negotiable, depending on experience) • Trails Guide salary: R20,000 per month (negotiable, depending on experience)
