Remote Mandarin–English Medical Interpreter

Role Description

Medical Interpreting & Translation Center (MIT Center) is currently hiring Mandarin-English Medical Interpreters to support real-time communication between Mandarin-speaking patients and English-speaking healthcare providers.

This is a fully remote opportunity with both full-time and part-time schedules available.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, complete, and impartial interpretation between Mandarin and English.
• Facilitate effective communication between patients, healthcare professionals, and medical staff.
• Interpret medical consultations, appointments, treatment discussions, and other healthcare-related interactions.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and professional interpreting standards.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Mandarin and English (C1 level or higher in both languages required).
• Strong verbal communication and active listening skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare communication.
• Reliable internet connection and a quiet, distraction-free workspace.
• Proven experience in medical interpreting is required.
• Candidates must have prior experience supporting healthcare-related interactions.

Preferred (Not Mandatory)

• Experience in OPI/VRI interpreting.
• Background in healthcare or medical training.
• Experience interpreting for U.S. healthcare providers.

Location

We are currently prioritizing qualified Mandarin-English speakers residing in:

Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines.

Important: Candidates must demonstrate professional-level fluency in both Mandarin and English. Speaking another Chinese language or dialect without Mandarin proficiency does not meet the requirements.
