About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote Metallurgist to contribute to their innovative mining operations, supporting teams across various locations. This role focuses on optimizing mineral processing techniques and ensuring maximum recovery of valuable commodities through advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities, all managed from a remote setting. You will work closely with on-site personnel and R&D departments to troubleshoot processing challenges, develop new methodologies, and drive efficiency improvements. Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze metallurgical test results and plant operational data to identify areas for process improvement.
  • Develop and optimize mineral processing flowsheets, including comminution, flotation, leaching, and refining stages.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for on-site processing plants via remote communication.
  • Conduct research and development into new metallurgical technologies and sustainable practices.
  • Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and process design documentation.
  • Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and plant operators to achieve optimal mineral recovery and product quality.

Requirements

  • MSc or PhD in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mineral processing and extractive metallurgy.
  • Proven track record in optimizing metallurgical processes for gold, platinum, or base metals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with expertise in statistical analysis and process modeling.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adept at remote collaboration and stakeholder management.
  • Familiarity with process simulation software (e.g., METSIM, JKSimMet) is highly desirable.
