This position will focus on developing, implementing, and monitoring environmental management strategies across various mining projects, primarily from a remote work setting. You will ensure compliance with environmental regulations, assess environmental impacts, and promote best practices in rehabilitation and waste management.

Key Responsibilities • Develop and implement environmental management plans (EMPs) for mining operations. • Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and monitor compliance with permits and regulations. • Oversee programs for water management, waste disposal, air quality, and biodiversity conservation. • Provide technical guidance and support to site-based environmental officers. • Prepare environmental reports for regulatory submission and internal review. • Stay current with evolving environmental legislation and industry best practices. • Facilitate environmental training and awareness programs for site personnel.

Requirements • BSc or MSc in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related discipline. • Minimum of 6 years of experience in environmental management within the mining or heavy industry sector. • In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation (e.g., NEMA) and permitting processes in South Africa . • Experience with environmental monitoring, risk assessment, and remediation techniques. • Proficiency in environmental reporting software and GIS applications. • Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills, suitable for remote work.
