Remote Senior Mining Engineer - Operations Optimization

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mining Engineer to join their team on a fully remote basis, focusing on operations optimization across their diverse mining portfolio. This critical role will analyze and improve mining processes, enhance efficiency, and implement best practices remotely. You will leverage advanced data analytics and simulation tools to identify bottlenecks and propose innovative solutions that drive productivity and cost savings. Working independently or collaboratively with site‑based teams via virtual channels, you will play an instrumental part in shaping the future of efficient and sustainable mining practices for the company, contributing to strategic operational improvements from your home office.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze operational data from various mine sites to identify areas for improvement in productivity, safety, and cost‑effectiveness.
• Develop and implement optimization strategies for underground and open‑pit mining operations, utilizing simulation and modelling software.
• Design and recommend new mining methods or equipment upgrades to enhance operational efficiency.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and present findings and recommendations to remote management and site teams.
• Collaborate virtually with site engineers, geologists, and management to ensure successful implementation of operational changes.
• Stay abreast of new mining technologies and methodologies to continuously improve operational performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in mining operations, with a strong emphasis on operational efficiency and optimization.
• Proficiency in mining simulation software (e.g., Deswik, MinePlan) and data analysis tools.
• Proven ability to work effectively and deliver results in a remote work environment.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
• Experience in resource estimation and mine planning is an advantage.
