About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly organized and experienced Remote Mine Survey Manager to oversee surveying operations for their global mining projects. This role is primarily remote, focusing on setting standards, managing survey teams, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all survey data collected across various mine sites. You will be instrumental in establishing best practices, implementing new surveying technologies, and providing remote guidance and oversight to site-based survey crews. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of mine surveying principles, advanced technological tools, and exceptional leadership capabilities to manage a distributed team effectively and ensure precise spatial data for mine planning and operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement company-wide standards and procedures for mine surveying operations.
  • Manage and mentor remote and site-based survey teams, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality output.
  • Oversee the acquisition, processing, and quality assurance of all survey data, including topographic, volumetric, and positional data.
  • Select, evaluate, and implement appropriate surveying technologies and software solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements for mine surveying.
  • Collaborate with mine planning, engineering, and operations teams to provide essential spatial data for decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or equivalent certification required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mine surveying, with significant experience in a leadership role.
  • Expertise in various surveying techniques, including GPS/GNSS, total stations, laser scanning, and drone technology.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard surveying software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Carlson Survey).
  • Exceptional remote management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
