About the Role
Our client is seeking a meticulous and experienced Remote Mine Surveyor to support their resource development projects across South Africa, with a focus on operations in the Eastern Cape. This position involves managing and processing survey data remotely to ensure accurate mine modeling, volume calculations, and compliance with reporting standards. You will work closely with mine planning engineers and geologists, utilizing advanced surveying technologies and software from a remote location. Key Responsibilities
- Process and analyze survey data from various sources, including 3D scanners, drones, and GPS equipment.
- Create and update digital terrain models and mine surfaces for planning and reporting purposes.
- Calculate volumes of stockpiles, excavations, and other mine-related features accurately.
- Ensure data integrity and compliance with industry standards and company surveying protocols.
- Collaborate remotely with site-based survey teams and engineers to resolve data discrepancies.
- Maintain survey databases and provide support for spatial data management.
Requirements
- National Diploma or Degree in Surveying or Geomatics.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in mine surveying or a closely related field.
- Proficiency with survey data processing software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson Survey, 3DReshaper).
- Experience with GIS software and database management.
- Strong understanding of surveying principles, geodetic control , and coordinate systems.
- Excellent remote communication and data management skills.
