Remote Mining Geochemist - Data Analysis

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Remote Mining Geochemist to focus on the advanced analysis of geochemical data to support mineral exploration and resource evaluation. This hybrid role allows for significant remote work, emphasizing the interpretation of soil, rock, and stream sediment samples to identify anomalies indicative of mineralization. You will work closely with exploration geologists and data scientists to refine targeting strategies and enhance discovery success rates. Your expertise in geochemical modeling and statistical analysis will be crucial for unlocking the potential of the company's diverse project portfolio, providing critical insights from a remote base while facilitating necessary on-site data verification and sample collection coordination within the Northern Cape's geological context.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and interpret large geochemical datasets from exploration programs, including stream sediment, soil, rock chip, and drill core samples.
• Develop and apply statistical methods and geochemical modeling techniques to identify exploration targets and understand mineralization controls.
• Collaborate with exploration geologists to integrate geochemical data with geological, geophysical, and other relevant datasets.
• Prepare high-quality geochemical reports, interpretative maps, and presentations for exploration teams and management.
• Oversee the planning and execution of geochemical sampling programs, ensuring data quality and integrity.
• Stay current with advancements in exploration geochemistry and implement new methodologies as appropriate.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geochemistry, Geology, or a related earth science discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in exploration geochemistry, with a focus on mineral deposit targeting.
• Proficiency in geochemical data analysis software and statistical packages (e.g., ARCGIS, ioGAS, R, Python ).
• Strong understanding of the principles of economic geology and various ore deposit types.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, managing remote analysis and coordinating field activities.
