Remote Network Administrator

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a skilled and self-motivated Remote Network Administrator to join their globally distributed IT team, supporting operations based in Durban . In this fully remote role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and security of our client's network infrastructure. This includes ensuring high availability, optimal performance, and robust security measures for all network systems. You will play a crucial role in supporting our business operations by maintaining reliable connectivity and proactively addressing potential network issues. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced network professional who thrives in a remote work environment and possesses a deep understanding of modern networking technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and manage local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and wireless networks.
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues, security threats, and hardware malfunctions.
• Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems.
• Perform regular network audits, system upgrades, and patching to ensure system integrity and security.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
• Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and other IT staff regarding network-related issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in network administration and support.
• Proficiency with network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls) from major vendors.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), and network security principles.
• Experience with cloud networking technologies (e.g., AWS VPC, Azure VNet) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work independently in a remote setting .
