About the Role
Our client is seeking a vigilant and skilled Remote Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer to monitor and maintain the health of their extensive telecommunications network. Operating entirely remotely, you will be the first line of defense against network disruptions, proactively identifying, diagnosing, and resolving issues to ensure optimal performance and availability of services. This role requires a sharp analytical mind, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of network reliability. You will work within a supportive team environment, contributing to the seamless operation of critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor network traffic and performance using advanced monitoring tools, identifying potential issues before they impact service.
- Respond promptly to network alerts, alarms, and customer-reported incidents, performing initial diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Escalate complex issues to appropriate engineering teams with detailed problem descriptions and initial findings.
- Implement routine network maintenance tasks and configuration changes as directed, ensuring adherence to change control procedures.
- Document network events, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in the ticketing system, contributing to the knowledge base.
Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Networking, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2+ years of experience in a Network Operations Center (NOC) environment or similar network support role.
- Proficiency with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix) and understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, SNMP, BGP).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of providing clear updates and explanations in a remote setting.
