Remote Payroll Accountant

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Remote Payroll Accountant to manage all aspects of payroll processing for their workforce. This role is critical for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll delivery, handling all related accounting functions. You will work independently from your remote location, coordinating with HR and finance departments to manage payroll data, deductions, and remittances. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of payroll legislation, excellent accuracy, and is adept at using payroll software and systems in a remote setting, contributing to employee satisfaction and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Process payroll accurately and efficiently on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant labor laws, tax regulations, and company policies related to payroll.
• Manage payroll data, including new hires, terminations, and changes in compensation or benefits.
• Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and payments to relevant authorities.
• Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any discrepancies or errors.
• Generate payroll reports for management, HR, and finance departments.
• Liaise with third-party payroll providers or systems as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in payroll accounting or administration.
• In-depth knowledge of South African payroll legislation, UIF, PAYE, and SDL.
• Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., VIP, Sage Payroll) and accounting systems.
• Proven ability to work remotely with minimal supervision and meet strict deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
