About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Remote Plant Breeder to drive advancements in crop genetics. In this fully remote position, you will design and execute breeding programs aimed at developing new plant varieties with improved traits such as yield, disease resistance, and nutritional value. You will work closely with a global team of scientists, utilizing cutting-edge genomic tools and data analysis to accelerate the breeding process. This role is ideal for a motivated individual passionate about contributing to global food security and agricultural innovation from anywhere.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic plant breeding programs for key crop species.
  • Utilize advanced molecular breeding techniques, including marker-assisted selection and genomic prediction.
  • Design and manage field trials, collecting and analyzing phenotypic and genotypic data.
  • Select and cross parent lines to develop superior segregating populations and elite lines.
  • Collaborate with geneticists, statisticians, and agronomists to achieve breeding objectives.
  • Contribute to the intellectual property strategy through patent applications and publications.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Plant Breeding, Genetics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in plant breeding , with a proven track record of successful variety development.
  • Extensive knowledge of quantitative genetics, statistics, and molecular breeding techniques.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software and bioinformatics tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead research projects remotely.
  • Strong understanding of crop physiology and agricultural systems.
