About the Role

Our client is seeking an expert Remote Plant Pathologist to join their global research and development team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute your specialized knowledge from anywhere. You will play a crucial role in identifying, diagnosing, and developing strategies to manage plant diseases affecting a wide range of agricultural crops. Your expertise will help clients protect their crops, improve yields, and ensure food security. We are looking for a scientifically rigorous individual with excellent analytical and communication skills, capable of working independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose plant diseases through remote analysis of submitted samples, images, and data.
  • Conduct literature reviews and research to understand disease epidemiology and host-pathogen interactions.
  • Develop and recommend integrated disease management strategies, including biological, chemical, and cultural control methods.
  • Collaborate with field agronomists and researchers to monitor disease outbreaks and assess the effectiveness of control measures.
  • Contribute to the development of new disease-resistant crop varieties and diagnostic tools.
  • Author technical reports, research papers, and presentations on plant pathology findings.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or Master's degree in Plant Pathology, Botany, or a closely related field.
  • Significant experience in diagnosing plant diseases, preferably with a focus on major agricultural crops.
  • Strong understanding of fungal, bacterial, viral, and other plant pathogens.
  • Proficiency in using remote diagnostic tools and techniques, and analyzing disease data.
  • Excellent scientific writing and communication skills for remote collaboration.
