Remote Process Development Engineer - Chemical

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote Process Development Engineer with a strong foundation in chemical engineering to join their innovative team. This position operates fully remotely, allowing you to contribute to cutting-edge process development projects from anywhere. You will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and scaling up chemical processes, working collaboratively with virtual teams across different locations. This role requires exceptional self-discipline, strong communication skills, and the ability to drive projects forward independently, contributing to advancements in chemical technology without the need for a physical office presence in Benoni or elsewhere.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and conduct experiments for the development and optimization of new chemical processes and product formulations.
• Utilize process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) to model and analyze process performance, identify bottlenecks, and propose improvements.
• Develop robust scale-up strategies from laboratory to pilot and commercial production, documenting all key parameters and considerations.
• Analyze process data, troubleshoot technical challenges, and implement effective solutions remotely.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, research summaries, and process documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate effectively with R&D chemists, other engineers, and project managers through virtual communication tools.
• Ensure process designs adhere to safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout the development lifecycle.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process development, optimization, and scale-up within the chemical industry.
• Strong proficiency with process simulation and modeling software.
• Excellent understanding of reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and separation technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and deliver results in a remote work environment.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience in virtual collaboration tools.
• Proven track record of successful process development projects.
