Remote Process Metallurgist - Hydrometallurgy Specialist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly specialized Process Metallurgist with expertise in hydrometallurgy to join their fully remote team, supporting operations near Upington . This senior role will focus on the development, optimization, and troubleshooting of chemical processing circuits for valuable metal recovery. You will leverage your deep understanding of chemical principles, phase equilibria, and reaction kinetics to enhance process efficiency, reduce costs, and improve environmental performance. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and optimization of hydrometallurgical processes (e.g., leaching, solvent extraction, electrowinning).
• Conduct laboratory and pilot-scale test work to evaluate process parameters and identify areas for improvement.
• Analyze process data to diagnose operational issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement effective solutions.
• Develop process models and simulations to predict performance and guide process modifications.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and develop strategies for waste minimization and effluent treatment.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for project stakeholders.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in hydrometallurgy.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in process metallurgy, with a strong focus on hydrometallurgical circuits .
• In-depth knowledge of metal-ligand chemistry, thermodynamics, and kinetics relevant to extraction processes.
• Experience with process simulation software and data analysis tools.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects and lead technical teams remotely.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
