Remote Renewable Energy Project Developer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dynamic and experienced Remote Renewable Energy Project Developer to identify, evaluate, and advance new renewable energy projects, particularly in solar and wind energy. Working entirely from home, you will be instrumental in driving the company's growth by securing sites, navigating regulatory landscapes, and initiating project development pipelines. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and a deep understanding of the renewable energy market in South Africa . Key Responsibilities

• Identify and assess potential sites for renewable energy projects, including feasibility studies and land acquisition.
• Develop business cases and financial models for new renewable energy projects.
• Lead the permitting and regulatory approval process for projects.
• Engage with stakeholders, including landowners, government agencies, utilities, and community members.
• Negotiate power purchase agreements (PPAs) and other project contracts.
• Manage project development timelines and budgets to ensure successful progression from concept to shovel-ready status.
• Stay informed about market trends, policy changes, and technological advancements in the renewable energy sector.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
• Master's degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in renewable energy project development , with a proven track record of bringing projects to fruition.
• Strong understanding of solar and/or wind project technology, economics, and development processes.
• Experience with site assessment, permitting, and contract negotiation (e.g., PPAs, leases).
• Excellent commercial negotiation, financial modeling, and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and collaborate effectively in a remote environment .
