About the Role Our client is seeking a dedicated Remote Safety Officer to ensure robust health and safety compliance across their mining operations. This crucial role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring safety protocols and procedures to protect personnel and assets.

Working from a remote location, you will analyze safety data, conduct virtual inspections, develop training materials, and provide expert guidance to site management.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of mining hazards and South African safety legislation, coupled with excellent communication and organizational skills for effective remote collaboration.

Key Responsibilities • Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety management systems tailored for mining environments. • Conduct risk assessments and identify potential hazards across various mine operations. • Create and deliver engaging safety training programs for all levels of personnel, adapted for remote delivery. • Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, and recommend corrective actions. • Monitor compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations. • Maintain safety documentation and records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Requirements • Relevant certification or qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., SAMTRAC, NEBOSH). • Minimum of 4 years of experience in health and safety management, specifically within the mining sector. • Thorough knowledge of South African mining health and safety legislation (e.g., MHSA). • Experience in developing and implementing safety management systems and conducting risk assessments. • Excellent communication, reporting, and presentation skills, suitable for a remote role. • Proficiency with virtual collaboration tools and safety management software.
