Remote Senior Chemical Engineer - Process Design

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Remote Senior Chemical Engineer specializing in Process Design to join their innovative, fully remote team. This role is critical in developing conceptual and detailed designs for new chemical plants and modifications to existing facilities. You will leverage your expertise in process simulation, P&ID development, and equipment specification to deliver efficient, safe, and cost-effective designs. This position offers the flexibility of remote work combined with the challenge of contributing to significant capital projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of conceptual and front-end engineering design (FEED) packages for chemical processes.
• Create and review detailed process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Perform process simulations and heat and mass balance calculations using industry-standard software.
• Specify major process equipment, including reactors, heat exchangers, pumps, and separation units.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant engineering codes, standards, and safety regulations.
• Collaborate effectively with remote multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and control engineers.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in process design and engineering, with a significant focus on capital projects.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and CAD tools for P&ID development.
• Deep understanding of chemical engineering principles, equipment design, and process safety management (PSM).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, adapted for remote collaboration.
• Proven ability to lead design efforts and mentor junior engineers in a remote setting.
