Remote Senior Chemical Engineer - Scale-Up Specialist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Remote Senior Chemical Engineer with a specialization in Scale-Up to join their innovative product development team. This role is critical for bridging the gap between laboratory-scale discoveries and commercially viable production processes, all managed remotely. You will provide expert guidance and technical leadership to ensure successful transition of new chemical technologies from R&D to manufacturing. The ideal candidate is a seasoned engineer with a proven ability to troubleshoot scale-up challenges and collaborate effectively across distributed teams, driving innovation from their home office.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the scale-up of new chemical processes from laboratory bench to pilot and commercial plant scale.
• Identify and address potential scale-up challenges related to reaction kinetics, heat transfer, mass transfer, and mixing.
• Develop detailed process designs, PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment specifications for pilot and production plants.
• Collaborate closely with R&D chemists, process engineers, and manufacturing personnel to ensure a smooth technology transfer.
• Conduct feasibility studies, economic evaluations, and risk assessments for scale-up projects.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for pilot plant operations and early-stage production runs remotely.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering with a strong emphasis on scale-up principles.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in chemical process development and scale-up, with a portfolio of successful transitions.
• Deep understanding of chemical reaction engineering, transport phenomena, and fluid dynamics at various scales.
• Experience with process simulation, modeling, and pilot plant operations.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects and lead technical teams in a remote or hybrid environment.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
