Remote Senior Community Development Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned and strategic Remote Senior Community Development Officer to drive impactful initiatives across various communities. You will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating community development programs, engaging stakeholders, and building partnerships. This role, while remote, will likely involve strategic oversight and engagement with initiatives relevant to regions like East London, Eastern Cape .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee strategic plans for community development projects.
• Identify community needs and opportunities for intervention and growth.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, local government, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
• Secure funding and manage budgets for various development programs.
• Lead and mentor a team of community development professionals.
• Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, ensuring impact and sustainability.
• Facilitate community consultations and participatory planning processes.
• Develop reports and present findings to senior management and external partners.
• Stay abreast of best practices and innovations in community development.
• Ensure compliance with all organizational policies and funding requirements.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Community Development, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in community development, with significant experience in program management and leadership.
• Demonstrated success in planning, implementing, and evaluating complex development projects.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and partnership-building skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities.
• Proficiency in project management tools and virtual collaboration platforms.
• Experience in fundraising and grant writing is highly advantageous.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and lead a team in a remote environment.
• Deep understanding of socio-economic challenges and development frameworks relevant to South Africa.
