Remote Senior Electrical Engineer - Power Systems

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Remote Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in Power Systems to join their globally distributed team, supporting operations from Pretoria . This position requires a deep understanding of electrical power generation, transmission, and distribution. You will be responsible for the design, analysis, and optimization of complex power infrastructure, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and safety. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of high-voltage power systems, substations, and grid connections.
• Perform advanced power flow studies, short circuit analysis, and transient stability simulations.
• Develop protection schemes and relay settings for power system equipment.
• Specify and evaluate power system components, including transformers, switchgear, and generators.
• Provide technical expertise and mentorship to engineering teams across various global locations.
• Ensure designs comply with international standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC) and local grid codes.

Requirements

• Master's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems.
• 10+ years of experience in the design and analysis of electrical power systems .
• Expertise in power system simulation software such as PSS/E, ETAP, or PSCAD.
• Proven track record in managing complex power engineering projects.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously.
• Experience with grid integration of renewable energy sources is a plus.
