About the Role

Our client, a leading telecommunications provider, is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Field Operations Manager to lead their remote field operations team. This position is fully remote, offering the flexibility to manage operations from anywhere in South Africa while overseeing critical field service delivery nationwide. You will be responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and optimization of all field operations, ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing large, geographically dispersed field teams, expertise in telecommunications infrastructure, and a proven ability to drive operational excellence. You will work closely with planning, engineering, and support departments to ensure seamless service delivery, impacting regions such as Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to optimize field operations, including workforce scheduling, route planning, and resource allocation.
• Manage and mentor regional field operations supervisors and teams, fostering a culture of performance and safety.
• Ensure adherence to all safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards across all field activities.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for field operations, such as first-time fix rates, response times, and customer satisfaction.
• Collaborate with planning and engineering teams on network deployment and maintenance projects.
• Manage operational budgets and control costs effectively.
• Implement and oversee training programs for field technicians to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within field operations.
• Act as a key liaison between field teams and other departments within the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in field operations management, with a significant portion in the telecommunications sector.
• Proven experience managing large, remote, and dispersed field service teams.
• In-depth understanding of broadband network technologies, installation practices, and maintenance procedures.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to field operations.
• Excellent leadership, strategic planning, and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficiency in using field service management software and other relevant tools.
