Remote Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their global team, supporting projects near Randburg . This fully remote position involves providing expert analysis and recommendations on the geotechnical aspects of mining projects, including slope stability, ground support, and seismic risk assessment. You will work closely with project teams worldwide, leveraging advanced modeling techniques and your extensive experience to ensure the stability and safety of mine structures. This role is perfect for an experienced engineer who thrives on complex challenges and can deliver high-quality geotechnical solutions from a remote setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geotechnical investigations and analyses for open-pit and underground mining projects.
• Perform stability analyses for slopes, tunnels, and underground excavations, recommending appropriate support systems.
• Assess seismic risks and develop mitigation strategies for active mining areas.
• Utilize advanced geotechnical software for modeling and simulation (e.g., FLAC, Rocscience suite).
• Provide expert advice and technical guidance to site-based engineers and project managers remotely.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, including design recommendations and risk assessments.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on the mining industry .
• Proficiency in geotechnical modeling software and analysis techniques.
• Strong understanding of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and geological principles.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and provide technical leadership remotely.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills for virtual collaboration.
