Remote Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Remote Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead critical geotechnical investigations and design projects from a remote location. You will provide expert advice on foundation design, slope stability, and earthworks for a diverse portfolio of national infrastructure and building projects. This role requires a deep understanding of soil mechanics and foundation engineering, coupled with the ability to manage projects and mentor junior engineers virtually. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and execution of complex geotechnical investigations, including site assessments and data analysis.
• Provide expert interpretation of soil and rock mechanics data, and develop comprehensive foundation design recommendations.
• Manage geotechnical aspects of major infrastructure and building projects, ensuring compliance and safety.
• Develop and review detailed geotechnical reports, specifications, and risk assessments.
• Mentor and guide junior geotechnical engineers and technicians remotely.
• Collaborate effectively with project managers, clients, and design teams through virtual communication channels.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnics.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering consultancy.
• Proven expertise in ground investigation techniques , laboratory testing interpretation, and numerical modeling.
• Proficiency with advanced geotechnical software packages (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio Suite).
• Excellent understanding of South African geological conditions and relevant engineering standards.
