Remote Senior Metallurgist - Mineral Processing

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Metallurgist to join their global team in a fully remote capacity , contributing to their diverse mineral processing operations worldwide. You will provide expert technical guidance and support for the optimization of beneficiation processes, focusing on maximizing metal recovery and product quality. This role requires a deep understanding of various metallurgical principles and technologies, applied to analyze performance data, troubleshoot operational issues, and drive innovation in plant efficiency. Your contributions will be vital in enhancing the economic performance of our client's assets from anywhere in the world.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze process data to identify areas for improvement in mineral processing circuits (e.g., flotation, leaching, milling).
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize metal recovery rates and reduce operating costs.
• Provide remote technical support and troubleshooting for plant operations.
• Conduct pilot plant studies and laboratory test work to evaluate new processes or reagents.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for process upgrades.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in mineral processing and metallurgy.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in mineral processing and metallurgy , with a strong focus on plant operations.
• Expertise in one or more key processing areas such as flotation, hydrometallurgy, or pyrometallurgy.
• Proficiency in metallurgical simulation software and data analysis tools.
• Proven ability to diagnose complex process issues and develop effective solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote team environment , ideally based in or familiar with the Sandton region's industrial context.
