About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Mining Engineer to join their globally distributed team, focusing on strategic planning and operational efficiency for their mining assets, with the role operating remotely and based anywhere, though preference may be given to those familiar with the Western Cape region's geological context. This pivotal position involves overseeing the design, planning, and optimization of mining operations, ensuring they are safe, efficient, and economically viable. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and refine mine plans, schedules, and budgets for open-pit and underground operations.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining projects and expansions.
• Implement and monitor best practices in mine design, safety protocols, and environmental management.
• Utilize advanced mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Mine2-4D) for 3D modeling and optimization.
• Provide technical support and guidance to site-based engineering teams, fostering collaboration across distances.
• Analyze production data to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction in mining operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in mine planning and operations, with a strong understanding of various mining methods.
• Proficiency in industry-standard mine planning and design software.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Proven ability to work autonomously and effectively in a remote team environment.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and safety standards in the mining industry.
