Remote Social Impact Strategist

About the Role

Our client, a forward-thinking philanthropic foundation focused on addressing (specific social issue, e.g., poverty alleviation), is seeking an experienced Remote Social Impact Strategist. This fully remote position is pivotal in shaping and driving the foundation's strategic direction, ensuring maximum positive impact. You will be responsible for identifying key areas for intervention, developing innovative program frameworks, and evaluating the effectiveness of our investments. The ideal candidate possesses a strong analytical mindset, extensive knowledge of the social sector, and a proven ability to design scalable and sustainable impact initiatives. Working remotely from any location in South Africa, you will collaborate with a global network of partners and stakeholders to achieve ambitious social change goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and refine the foundation's overarching social impact strategy, aligning with its mission and values.
• Conduct in-depth research on social issues, market trends, and best practices in philanthropy.
• Identify, assess, and recommend new program opportunities and strategic partnerships.
• Design and oversee the implementation of impact measurement and evaluation frameworks.
• Provide strategic guidance and support to program teams and grantees.
• Analyze data and generate insights to inform decision-making and optimize program performance.
• Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for the board, stakeholders, and the public.
• Facilitate strategic planning sessions and workshops for internal and external teams.
• Stay abreast of emerging trends and innovations in social impact and philanthropy.
• Manage relationships with key strategic partners and thought leaders in the social sector.

Requirements

• Minimum of (Number) years of experience in strategy development, program design, or impact management, preferably within the Charity & Voluntary or philanthropic sector.
• Proven ability to develop and implement complex social impact strategies.
• Strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills.
• Experience with impact measurement, evaluation, and reporting methodologies.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills, adaptable to remote environments.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools and software.
• Master’s degree in Public Policy, Social Sciences, International Development, Business Administration (with a focus on social impact), or a related field.
• A profound understanding of the non-profit landscape and the drivers of social change.
• Must be based in South Africa and available to work standard business hours, with flexibility for international time zones when necessary.
