About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Soil Scientist & Fertility Specialist to join their team remotely, supporting agricultural clients near Mossel Bay, Western Cape . This role focuses on optimizing soil health and nutrient management to enhance crop productivity and sustainability. You will analyze soil data, develop tailored fertility programs, and provide expert advice to farmers using advanced digital tools and remote communication. This is an excellent opportunity for a specialist to apply their scientific knowledge to real‑world agricultural challenges from a remote setting, contributing to more efficient and environmentally sound farming practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze soil test results and interpret data to assess nutrient levels, pH, and soil structure.
- Develop comprehensive soil fertility management plans, including recommendations for fertilizer application and amendments.
- Provide remote agronomic advice on soil conservation, erosion control, and organic matter enhancement.
- Monitor the impact of fertility programs on crop health and yield through remote assessment and data analysis.
- Educate farmers and agricultural consultants on best practices for soil health and nutrient management.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Soil Science, Agronomy, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in soil science and plant nutrition.
- Strong knowledge of soil chemistry, physics, and biology.
- Proficiency in using soil analysis software and interpreting laboratory reports.
- Excellent remote communication, problem‑solving, and client advisory skills.
