About the Role

Our client is seeking an expert Remote Soil Scientist dedicated to land rehabilitation and sustainable land management. In this fully remote position, you will analyze soil data, develop strategies for restoring degraded lands, and advise on best practices for soil conservation across various projects, potentially including those near Polokwane. You will leverage advanced analytical tools and collaborate virtually with environmental engineers, ecologists, and project managers to achieve ecological restoration goals. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed analysis of soil properties, including chemical, physical, and biological characteristics, using remote sensing and data analysis tools.
  • Develop comprehensive land rehabilitation plans and strategies for degraded or contaminated sites.
  • Recommend appropriate soil amendments, revegetation techniques, and erosion control measures.
  • Monitor the progress and effectiveness of rehabilitation efforts through data collection and analysis. Prepare technical reports, environmental impact assessments, and soil management guidelines.
  • Collaborate virtually with interdisciplinary teams to integrate soil science principles into broader environmental projects.

Requirements

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Soil Science, Environmental Science, Agronomy, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in soil science, with a focus on land rehabilitation, soil conservation, or environmental remediation.
  • Proficiency in soil analysis techniques and interpretation of soil data.
  • Experience with GIS software and remote sensing data for land assessment is essential.
  • Strong understanding of ecological principles and land restoration processes.
  • Excellent remote communication, report writing, and project management skills.
