Remote Structural Design Engineer - Commercial Buildings

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Remote Structural Design Engineer with a focus on Commercial Buildings. You will be responsible for designing and analyzing the structural integrity of various commercial, retail, and mixed-use developments. This role operates within a fully remote structure, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere in South Africa. You will collaborate closely with architects, project managers, and construction teams through virtual channels to ensure the safety and efficiency of building designs.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for commercial building projects using advanced software.
• Develop detailed structural drawings, calculations, and specifications for concrete, steel, and composite structures.
• Review architectural plans and provide structural input to ensure constructability and code compliance.
• Collaborate virtually with project teams to resolve design challenges and RFI responses.
• Ensure designs meet all relevant national building codes, standards, and client requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural focus.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in the structural design of commercial buildings.
• Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, Prokon).
• Knowledge of relevant building codes (e.g., SANS) and construction practices.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills for remote collaboration.
