About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Remote Structural Drafter to join their distributed engineering team. This role is essential for translating structural designs into precise technical drawings and models required for construction. You will work closely with structural engineers to produce clear, accurate, and compliant documentation using specialized CAD software. As a fully remote position, this opportunity offers flexibility while requiring strong self-discipline and communication skills to collaborate effectively with a geographically dispersed team on projects throughout South Africa .

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed structural drawings, plans, sections, and elevations based on engineering designs and specifications.
• Create 3D models of structural components and assemblies using CAD software.
• Ensure all drafted work adheres to relevant industry standards, building codes, and client requirements.
• Coordinate with structural engineers to clarify design intent and incorporate revisions efficiently.
• Produce Bills of Quantities (BoQ) and material take-offs from detailed drawings as required.
• Maintain organized electronic drawing files and project documentation.
• Review structural calculations and ensure their correct representation in drawings.

Requirements

• National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Draughting or Civil Engineering Technology.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Structural Drafter, preferably with exposure to various project types.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and experience with BIM software such as Revit Structure is essential.
• Solid understanding of structural principles and construction methods.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet project deadlines in a remote setting.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in technical drawings.
