Remote Structural Engineer - Coastal Developments

About the Role

Our client is a forward-thinking engineering firm based in Cape Town seeking a dedicated Remote Structural Engineer . This role is critical for designing and overseeing the structural integrity of coastal and marine infrastructure projects. You will be instrumental in ensuring the safety and resilience of developments exposed to harsh environmental conditions. As a fully remote position, you will have the autonomy to manage your workload from anywhere, while actively contributing to innovative solutions for the Western Cape's evolving coastal landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for various coastal structures, including seawalls, jetties, and offshore platforms.
• Develop detailed engineering drawings, calculations, and specifications using advanced structural analysis software.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant building codes, environmental regulations, and marine engineering standards.
• Conduct remote inspections and site assessments where feasible, providing technical guidance to on‑site teams.
• Collaborate virtually with project managers, architects, and construction teams across different time zones.
• Stay abreast of new materials, technologies, and best practices in structural engineering for coastal environments.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience specifically in structural design, with a focus on coastal or marine projects.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration is a significant advantage.
• Expertise in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD. Pro) and CAD software.
• Thorough knowledge of concrete, steel, and composite material design principles.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a remote work setting.
