About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and passionate Remote Sustainable Agriculture Consultant to guide farmers and agricultural businesses towards environmentally sound and economically viable practices. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work with clients across diverse geographical areas, including those near Nelspruit . You will develop strategies that enhance soil health, conserve water, reduce chemical inputs, and promote biodiversity, while also ensuring profitability. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of ecological principles applied to agriculture and is adept at translating these into practical, implementable solutions for clients. This role is crucial for advancing the adoption of sustainable farming methods.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop customized sustainable agriculture plans for clients, focusing on soil health, water management, and biodiversity.

• Advise clients on transitioning to organic farming, regenerative agriculture, or other eco-friendly practices.

• Assess environmental impacts of current farming operations and recommend mitigation strategies.

• Provide expertise on integrated pest management (IPM) and reduce reliance on synthetic pesticides.

• Stay abreast of the latest research, policies, and technologies in sustainable agriculture.

• Assist clients in obtaining relevant certifications for sustainable or organic production.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Sustainable Agriculture, Agronomy, Environmental Science, or a related field.

• Extensive experience (7+ years) in sustainable or organic farming practices and consulting.

• Strong knowledge of soil biology, water conservation techniques, and ecological farming principles.

• Proven ability to develop practical, cost-effective sustainability strategies for agricultural operations.

• Excellent communication, report writing, and client advisory skills.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage client relationships remotely.
