About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Remote Sustainable Tourism Specialist to champion environmentally and socially responsible travel practices. In this fully remote position, you will develop and implement strategies that promote eco-friendly tourism, support local communities, and preserve natural and cultural heritage. You will advise stakeholders, create educational resources, and work with partners to integrate sustainability principles into tourism operations. The ideal candidate has a strong passion for conservation, deep expertise in sustainable tourism principles, and excellent communication skills to drive positive change in the industry from anywhere.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine sustainable tourism policies, guidelines, and best practices.
- Conduct sustainability assessments and audits for tourism businesses and destinations.
- Create training materials and resources on sustainable tourism for industry professionals and travelers.
- Advise stakeholders on implementing eco-friendly initiatives and community engagement strategies.
- Monitor and report on the environmental and social impact of tourism activities.
- Collaborate with NGOs, government agencies, and industry associations to advance sustainable tourism.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Sustainable Tourism, Environmental Science, Conservation, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in sustainable tourism development, ecotourism, or conservation programs.
- In-depth knowledge of sustainability principles, certifications, and impact assessment methodologies.
- Proven ability to develop and implement effective sustainability strategies.
- Excellent research, analytical, and report-writing skills.
- Strong communication and presentation abilities, comfortable working remotely.
