Remote Systems Administrator - Infrastructure Management

This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from any location within South Africa. You will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, availability, and security of our client's server environments, cloud platforms, and associated services. This role demands a deep understanding of system administration principles, strong troubleshooting capabilities, and the ability to manage complex IT operations independently. You will play a critical role in system upgrades, patching, monitoring, and disaster recovery planning. Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain server hardware and operating systems (Windows Server, Linux).
• Manage and monitor cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or similar).
• Implement and maintain system security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection, and access control.
• Perform regular system patching, updates, and vulnerability assessments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system performance issues, network connectivity problems, and application errors.
• Develop and execute backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
• Automate routine administrative tasks using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
• Provide remote technical support to internal users and assist with system-related queries.
• Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices in system administration.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or in a similar IT infrastructure role.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
• Proficiency in network protocols and network management tools.
• Experience with scripting for automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash).
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for virtual collaboration.
• Relevant certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, RHCSA, or AWS/Azure certifications are highly desirable.
• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) is a plus.
